Description

Howard Ray was born in Okolona, MS. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in May 1950 at the age of 18. Mr. Ray served in both the Korean War and in the Vietnam War. In the Korean War, he was a prisoner of war, during his first skirmish. He went to Vietnam in 1967, as a Security Intelligence Sergeant. During his time in the service, he served in the infantry, administration, security, and retired as a Chaplain’s Assistant. Mr. Ray served over 29 years in the military and retired in November 1979. He is a member of the Buffalo Soldiers.
