Description

Turner McGarity, son of James and Alta, was born in San Antonio, TX. He attended San Antonio Junior College for a year and then enlisted in the U.S. Army at the age of 19 in the buddy system. He was deployed to Vietnam in December of 1969. In Vietnam, he served with the 199 Light Infantry Brigade, A Company, 7th Batallion. Mr. McGarity taught for 16 years at the Texas Military Institute. Mr. McGarity served over 25 years in the military. He is the former President of the Buffalo Soldiers.
