A Beadworker's Inspiration

Description

Sheila Escobar is a Mohawk beadworker who makes a living traveling from craft show to craft show across New York. Her pincushions, purses and ornaments are marked by vibrant bursts of color - a modern take on the traditional patterns of her ancestors. At the Iroquois Indian Festival, she pauses to reflect on how her art helps connect the missing pieces of a long-lost Haudenosaunee heritage.
