PBS Documentary: “Tulsa: The Fire and The Forgotten”

Description

The Tulsa race massacre was one of the darkest days in American history. On May 31st, 1921, a white mob destroyed Tulsa, Oklahoma’s prosperous Black community of Greenwood -- also known as “Black Wall Street”. Thousands were left homeless and destitute. Hundreds were injured. An estimated 100 to 300 Black residents were killed, though the precise number is unknown. This year PBS marks the centennial of that horrendous act of domestic terrorism in “Tulsa: The Fire and the Forgotten.” Tonight, as part of our ongoing Chasing The Dream initiative, north Tulsa community activist and a descendant of victims of the massacre, Greg Robinson joins us.
