Making the Future - Angie
Description
Angie just celebrated her second year at Pratt's East Hartford Plant. She makes engine blades for the Pure Power engine for commercial jets. She knew she wanted to work for Pratt after her Dad brought her to "Take Your Daughter to Work" day when she was just 8-years old. She is a third generation employee: her dad is a Tool & Die Maker (at the same plant), and both of his parents worked at Pratt. She also has an uncle who works at Pratt. Angie attended Wilcox Technical High School in Meriden and started a program at Middlesex Community College after graduating. She decided to apply for a job at Pratt when the engine ramp up began. After she landed the position, she realized she couldn’t manage the class workload while working the intense hours at Pratt. But she recently was accepted to Southern New Hampshire University’s online program and started courses in Engineering. Pratt is paying her college tuition. Her goal is to work for NASA as an engineer. She has been saving money and recently bought a 2-family house in Middletown: 22-years old and she's a landlord. She plays on the Pratt softball team and rides her Harley to work whenever the weather is good. In her spare time, she loves to build things out of wood and work on her Chevy 2500 Silverado.
