LaunchCode Miami

Description

LaunchCode is a local coding academy and job training program focused on making technology training accessible to underserved populations. It offers a free, 20-week technology boot camp teaching the basics of coding that allows students to build a mobile app portfolio. Graduates can gain entry level web development jobs with the skills learned. They can also land a spot in LaunchCode’s apprentice program where students earn a living wage while working with some of South Florida’s biggest technology firms. LaunchCode’s Director of Engagement Matt Mawhinney explains how the program works, and we’ll hear from some current boot camp students about why the 20-week, part-time program fills their needs. We’ll also head over to LaunchCode client Watsco to meet Lasaly Changkachith, a former LaunchCode apprentice and new mobile apps development team hire.
