Making the Future - Nasir
Description
Nassir has been one of the lead engineers at CT Center for Advanced Technology (CCAT) for the past decade. He’s the guy who learns all of the cutting edge technology on the advanced manufacturing equipment that CCAT purchases. When companies turn to CCAT for help producing an intricate or complicated part – or they simply want to streamline production to boost efficiency – Nasir suggests which pieces of equipment could improve their output. This is critical in the ultra-competitive world of manufacturing. He is the “laser specialist” at CCAT: Lasers are used to accelerate the inspection process for quality control and greatly increase productivity. Nasir is currently using lasers to help record historic artifacts in churches so that the specifications are stored in digital files- that way if a piece were damaged or destroyed it could be recreated. Nasir is an engineer who earned his undergraduate degree at Uconn and his graduate degree at RPI. He worked as an intern at Pratt and Otis Elevator while in school. Nassir has always loved to analyze how things work; it’s in his DNA as both his father and grandfather were engineers. Nasir happens to be an amazing artist and spends his free time working on his masterpieces and teaching his 2-year old daughter how to draw.
