Earth Horizons

Description

Earth Horizons is a project funded by the National Science Foundation to expand opportunities and awareness about geosciences as an academic and career choice for minority students. Science professors from Vanderbilt University and Tennessee State University (TSU), a historically black university, have collaborated for more than a year to launch the first semester of classes in 2019. NPT will take a look at the goals of Earth Horizons and the need to recruit more minority students to the geosciences. The report will also address the challenges and opportunities related to merging two large institutions of higher education with distinctly different academic and social cultures. NPT will explore this model project through the experiences of two TSU students.
