Donated Tablets and Phones helping connect Isolated COVID-19 Patients

WNET

Description

A Rhode Island teen says his work isn’t done after his nonprofit group quickly met its goal to collect 650 donated smartphones and tablets for isolated coronavirus patients.

Kaya Suner was looking for ways to help during the crisis and his mom, an ER doctor, suggested that he collect donated smart devices to help patients who couldn’t afford them so that patients could connect with loved ones.

His group called COVID Connectors has received donations from across the country and those devices are going to several states.

The devices have helped patients to participate in birthday celebrations, meet newborns and even help dying patients connect with family and faith leaders.
