PBS PhD Science Level 5 Module 4 Lesson 3 Part 2

Description

In Lesson 3 part 2, students continue their exploration of the Phenomenon Question: What separates Earth from outer space? Students determine that Earth’s atmosphere is made of gas particles (CC.5) that scatter sunlight, causing the atmosphere to appear bright blue, while outer space is a vacuum that appears black. Students apply their knowledge of gas particles from Module 1 to wonder why gas particles in the atmosphere do not spread out into outer space.
