Just getting around the house, let alone a farm, can be a daunting challenge. Rural Solutions offers relief to those with disabilities through innovation and assistance.
When the Americans with Disabilities Act was being written, a group of farmers gathered with Iowa Senator Tom Harkin to have language inserted into the legislation specifically aimed at farmers with disabilities. What began as AgrAbility has blossomed into an outreach program that touches lives from farm gate to Main Street. Rural Solutions, run by Easterseals Iowa, helps people in rural communities adapt their homes and lives to their disability.
