American Portrait-MetroFocus Special Report: Everyday America The Brave

Description

As the nation honors Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the country finds itself standing more divided as President-elect Joe Biden readies to take the reigns as Commander-In-Chief. From the pandemic to the office of the Presidency, we bring you a look at the unwavering resiliency of our nation seen through the eyes of everyday America in the third and final installment of our special series produced in conjunction with PBS’ American Portrait project. And to ensure New Yorkers’ stories were part of this great conversation, MetroFocus teamed up with community organizations who helped PBS weave this national tapestry. Leaders at two of those local groups -- Leonard Jacobs, Interim Executive Director for the Jamaica Center For Arts and Learning and Tara DePorte, the Executive Director and Founder of The Human Impacts Institute -- join us to discuss their work on the project, their mission and 2020's impact on the arts community.
