Past and Present -- Immigration in Humboldt County

Description

Eureka and Humboldt County have throughout their history cultivated a violent and intolerant reputation for immigrants. In 1885 and 1906, angry workers and others formed mobs to expel Chinese residents from the city because of economic anxieties and fear. But in recent years, due in part to the efforts of a new brand of Humboldt County immigrant activist, the community took up a Sanctuary initiative -- Measure K -- which passed last November. KEET charts the community\\\'s evolution in this film.
