GI Jews: George Braunstein's first experience in War

Description

George Braunstein has witnessed segregation and experienced anti-Semitism, but it hasn’t changed his love for America. Braunstein entered the U.S. Army at age 19. While on a march in France during World War II, Braunstein watched as a church steeple exploded, sending shrapnel in all directions. A piece of metal struck him, leaving a scar under his chin. It was his first experience in war.
