Making the Future - Jermaine
Jermaine is 26-year old. He grew up in Bridgeport and has turned his life around. After running into trouble with the law, he is now very happy with his position as a CNC operator at Balding Precision in Milford. He learned about advanced manufacturing at Carl Robinson Prison where he served for a weapons charge. Connecticut’s “Second Chance” program supported him after release from prison, helping Jermaine to enroll in the Advanced Manufacturing Program at Housatonic Community College.

Alain is a 19-year old who works at Altek Electronics in Torrington, which makes circuit boards for mammography machines, elevators, etc.
Making The Future - Amanda
Amanda came to Trumpf in Farmington through the technical high school route. She went to Cheney Tech in Manchester and knew that she would have to hold off on college because her parents didn’t have the money. While at Cheney, she started an internship at Trumpf and was ultimately hired. She now works as a welder and was recently promoted, supervising 13 men – several have decades more experience than she does; at just 22-years old, she is often training employees with 30-years experience. She also just started her first semester at Tunxis Community College where she is studying to become a teacher so she could ultimately work in the technical high schools. She is a strong athlete and loves to bowl, play soccer, volleyball, and softball. She is on the company softball team.
Making the Future - Ryan and Jacob
Jacob and Ryan have pretty much "tag-teamed" through life since they were 10 years old: they joined the army after graduating from Middletown High, went through boot camp together, tried college and trade school, then finally wound up back in Connecticut working for AGR, The Arthur G. Russell Company in Bristol.
Making the Future - Nasir
Nassir has been one of the lead engineers at CT Center for Advanced Technology (CCAT) for the past decade. He’s the guy who learns all of the cutting edge technology on the advanced manufacturing equipment that CCAT purchases. When companies turn to CCAT for help producing an intricate or complicated part – or they simply want to streamline production to boost efficiency – Nasir suggests which pieces of equipment could improve their output.
